Every year since 2002 on April 16, otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeons and other voice health professionals worldwide join together to recognize World Voice Day.
World Voice Day encourages men and women, young and old, to assess their vocal health and take action to improve or maintain good voice habits.

Stattweets – reference of the month

stattweets

As my twitter mania comes stronger, i have become more and more interested in the Twitter application to sport organizations.

Most sports-related media i have seen, have a Twitter account but they will make massive overload tweets to your dashboard.  This week, i found StatTweets! You can follow just the US teams from many sports, and can interact with each account to retrieve team and player stats dynamically. Let’s give Robbie (@StatSheet) some feedback about this project.

Twitter for dummies…

Nowadays, my addicted activitiy on the web is Twitter. It’s so fantastic how a small thing can have such a huge impact on your daily lives. What i really like about it, is the possibility to hear and read relevant information provided by a group of fantastic people. But we must follow a few rules so we won’t have a Twitter overdose.

twitter-hashcloudsPhoto credits: http://zeroinfluence.com

Problogger gave me a few ideas.

  • improve the quality of my blog – by adding new content every day. The last twitter application for wordpress despite being a bit poor, give you an open window for all your tweets
  • network with other bloggers – this is definately, a powerful way to exchange ideas and projects with others
  • widen my readership – it allows me to read fanstastic posts and news written or read by other on my network.
  • grow my profile – it’s a good way to show up
  • drive traffic to my blog – still working on these incoming visitors
  •

Glen Murray discussed the quality over quantity effect on Twitter. Personally, i have different groups and for those i would enjoy relevant twitterers that give me gold info about everithing. The best source in the world! This weekend, i have tried to follow a conference through the eyes of others by twittering us all data about it. Excellent!
Jen Genuine also provided some thoughts on a step by step process to undersantd the potential of this tool.
I must also credit the efforts of Dan Schawbel with his blog http://personalbrandingblog.com/ by adding so many information about the positive twitter effects on business, personal development, among others.
Another post from this topic specially for sport organizations

Sports Marketing 09 Edition – a great success!!!

This week, i have participated in the IPAM event – Sports Marketing 2009 featuring a great world class reference in sports marketing – Dr. Bill Sutton. I had the chance to meet him and he was very happy for this opportunity to come to Portugal.

    bill-sutton-in-portugal

The event was very well organized with a very professional staff who provided the best environment possible. The speakers delivered interesting speeches on issues related with the general topic. Daniel Sá & Carlos Sá presented their brand new book, showing a new Sport Marketing Game – with 3 important parts: fan, show and the sponsor.
Later on, a member of a company presented the preliminary findings of a survey on football fans in Portugal. Football Insights Study as APEME called it, was based on more than 3000 interviews made during the 2008/09 season. What do football fans expect of Brands in Soccer? Do Brands correspond to its consumers expectations? What can be expected from investment besides notoriety? How can sponsoring in football change brands image? These answers were obtained in a study that combines focus group, ethnographic incursions and online inquiry in the strongest Sports Marketing research made in Portugal.

Robert Fernandez from Brazil brought us his thoughts on Sports Marketing from the Brazilian point of view. There were many touching points about the vision of sport as a means of communication.
At the start and at the end of this impressive conference, Bill Sutton delivered an enthusiastic speech with a lot of calls for action for the Portuguese sport marketeers. The climax for the presentation happened during the demonstration of the Phoenix Suns Virtual Locker Room. This strategy seemed unreal just a few years ago and now it is a real multi-million dollar service.

    Truth or delusion?

This week, i finished reading the amazing book of Ivan Misner, Mike Macedonio and Mike Garrison. As a recent regional assistant for BNI in Portugal, i wanted to read a few books from Dr. Misner.

    Websitetruth-or-delusion

Ivan Misner puts in a very simple writing the fantastic way to do business .  The ordinary stories of normal people and the way business networking have changed their professional lives with just a few concepts is simply captivating. The book covers 49 questions or misconcepts that are truth or delusion.
You will start to wonder… is that simple?

    Laughter activities…

Today, i have booked myself on a Laughter Ioga Workshop. It will be an amazing experience!!! Jorg Helms is the president of a Portuguese Laughter club. I am already laughing out loud…

According to Wikipedia, Laughter Yoga (Hasya Yoga) is a physically oriented technique that uses a blend of playful, empowering and otherwise “tension-releasing” simple laughter exercises. With gentle yoga-breathing and -stretching exercises, rhythmic clapping and chanting of Ho Ho Ha Ha Ha in unison a simulated laughter turns into real laughter.

Laughter Yoga is done as a way to improve health, increase well-being and promote peace in the world through personal transformation.

    shapeimage_7

The Laughter Yoga method is the brainchild of Dr. Madan Kataria, who started the first laughter club in 1995. He has been the catalyst for the creation of over 5,000 Laughter Clubs in 40 countries, mostly free and public. Do it and find a club in your country!

    First readings of the year

2009 kicked off in great style: reading good books.

My first book of the year was from Marc Levy - french author.

Cam you imagine having 7 days after death to come again and speak for your beloved. With this setting, we read this marvelous book about Julia and her “dead” father.  Marc’s writting absorves you to the limit. Great story with remarkable moments. BASE_RAISIN

Another good book came on very quickly – The Adventures of Johnny Bunko – David Pink. I will write a few more lines tomorrow.

    2. Starting off with no paper and no hard issues to cover at the beggining of the year. My virtual desk at the notebook is clean.
    3. Setting one major goal for this year and i will make it happen.
    4. I have started Yesterday to make it happen. it is going to be a marathon run.
    5. Scheduling time for myself. Every day if possible! Reading, blogging, pratice different types of sport,
    6. Effective focus. Clearing distractions and do one taks at a time.
    7. No stress in tough moments. Everything is possible!
    8. Email Management – Checking email just twice a day if possible. This is the tough part.
